1. Some days it will seem like everyone is against you and in all honesty some days that will be the case, but don’t beat yourself up over it, kid. Everyone has their own battles and end up fighting a few people along the way, one day you will have the same problem.

2. It’s ok to feel like you can’t get out of bed and when your mum shouts at you don’t shout back, she’s also fighting battles too. When these days appear, get up and have a shower, allow yourself to feel fresh. You can make it back into bed again, just remember to get up tomorrow please.

3. Don’t shave your legs too soon, even if everyone else is doing it. Trust me, one day you’ll look back and thank god that you can go a couple of weeks without shaving or getting stubble. Those who started too soon will envy you.

4. People will leave and that’s ok, let them walk away. Because they clearly weren’t meant to stay for a reason and although it may seem like the end of the world, you’ll look back and realise why.

5. School is temporary. But try your best anyway and make it worthwhile, even when it feels like you can’t give anymore - you might surprise yourself.

6. Friends are not forever and chances are you won’t remember all the sleepovers you had when you were 10 so don’t worry if you have fallouts, they’re healthy in any friendship. Don’t sweat if you are being talked about, you’ll do the same to someone else one day - if not already. You can only control what you do, not anyone else’s actions.

7. It’s ok to eat comfort food and want to cry at songs with your earphones in, just don’t play that one song on repeat - you might need it for a rainy day next year. But please look after yourself, you’ll thank yourself in the future.

8. Don’t take life too seriously, after all no one makes it out alive. Laugh at silly things and love as hard as you can, even if you know it will hurt later. At least you will know that you tried and in the end that’s all that really matters.

9. Please be kind to your mum, she’s only trying her best for you. Try not to shut your door and sleep in until 3pm because when you’re up at 3am, the sound of her tears will soon make you realise what you’re doing. Tell her you love her from time to time and show her. Please, let her know.

10. Promise me you won’t let yourself be persuaded by your mum to pluck your eyebrows too soon. Get them waxed and done properly. You’ll need them in the future, trust me - girls judge on bad eyebrows. Keep them full and shaped.
